Veteran RAF helicopter leaves north Hampshire for the last time

The helicopter has served at locations around the world during its 40 years service and will become a museum exhibit

An RAF helicopter which has served around the world during 40 years of service has left north Hampshire for the last time.

Chinook 'Bravo November' has been taken by road from RAF Odiham to the RAF museum in Cosford where it'll be part of an exhibition to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Falkland's war.

Four of the pilots that flew the helicopter were awarded medals for bravery.

During its long service the helicopter served in Northern Ireland, Germany, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Falklands.

RAF Odiham tweeted:

"This morning, ZA718, Bravo November, departed RAF Odiham for the final time to make her way to the RAF Museum at Cosford. Part of the ChinookForce since 1980 BN has played an integral role in the Support Helicopter Force throughout her career.
