Two 15-year-olds seriously injured while riding a motorbike in Reading

Police were attempting to stop them when a collision occurred

A boy and a girl aged 15 have been seriously injured after a collision in Reading.

They were on a scrambler type motorbike that collided with a black Alfa Romeo on the A33 near the junction for Kennet Island at lunchtime on Sunday.

Police say they were trying to stop the teenagers at the time of incident and have referred themselves to the independent office of Police conduct.

The incident occurred on Sunday (24/1) at about 1.15pm on the A33 at the junction with Lindisfarne Way and Island Road.

Police officers in a marked vehicle made an attempt to stop a scrambler type motorcycle.

The motorcycle was then involved in a collision with black Alfa Romeo car on the A33, resulting in serious injury to the motorcycle rider and pillion passenger.

A boy and a girl, both aged 15, were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment, where they remain in a serious but stable condition. No one else was injured.

The two children’s next of kin have been informed. No arrests have been made.

Senior Investigating officer, Sergeant Ed Crofts of the Roads Policing Unit, said:

“I am seeking any witnesses to the collision who may have been travelling on the A33 and have any dash camera footage of the incident.

“I am also seeking any witnesses who may have seen the motorcycle prior to the collision on Lindisfarne Way or in the vicinity of Kennet Island during the early afternoon.”
