Man charged in connection with Reading assault

A pedestrian was injured when he was hit by a car

A man has been charged in connection with an assault in Earley.

Sultan Basharat, aged 36, of London Road, Reading, was charged with one count each of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving a motor vehicle without third party insurance on Saturday (25/5).

The charges relate to an assault in Beech Lane at around 7.15pm on 20 May when a pedestrian was hit by a car.

Basharat has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Reading Crown Court on 24 June.

A 32-year-old man from Reading remains on police bail until 16 August having been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent on 21 May.
