Police release CCTV after sex assault in Reading

Victim "distressed" but unharmed

Police have released CCTV images of a man they'd like to speak to in connection with a sexual assault investigation in Reading.

At just before 3.55pm on Wednesday 7 July, the victim, a woman aged in her twenties, was leaving Sainsbury’s in Friar Street when a man inappropriately touched her over her clothing.

The victim challenged the offender and she then noticed that the he had cut strands of hair and clothing from her.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Investigating officer PC Sally Meineke, based at Reading police station, said:

“This incident occurred in the middle of the afternoon in a busy area of Reading.

“I am releasing these CCTV images of a man who I believe may have vital information about this incident.

“I am urging this man to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 43210292993 or contact us online.

“I would also appeal to anybody who recognises this man or believe that they witnessed the incident to please get in touch.

“You can also report 100% anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“The victim was not injured in this incident, but naturally this was a distressing occurrence.

“Anybody who has any information, please get in touch with police.”
