Police carry out extra patrols a week after stabbing in Reading
Two boys have been charged with attempted murder
Police are conducting reassurance patrols in an area of Reading today (16/8) on the week anniversary of a stabbing.
At around 12.50am on Wednesday 9 August, the force received a report of an altercation in Hemdean Road, Caversham.
The force then received a further report that a boy in his teens had presented at hospital with two stab wounds. He was treated for serious injuries but has since been discharged from hospital.
Specially trained officers are supporting the victim and his family.
Two 16-year-old boys from Reading have been charged with one count each of attempted murder. They have been remanded into the care of the local authority and are due to appear at Reading Crown Court on 4 September.
Detective Inspector Laura Corscadden, based at Reading police station, said:
“Today is the one week anniversary of the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Caversham, Reading.
“We have been working extremely hard ever since this was reported to us to investigate, with two teenage boys subsequently charged with attempted murder.
“Officers will be patrolling in the area this afternoon and evening so please do speak to them if you have any information you feel could be relevant to the investigation or to talk about your concerns, should you have any.
