Pedestrians injured in south Reading car smash
A man in his thirties and a little girl aged under five are hurt in collision
Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road collision in Reading.
The incident occurred at around 8.20am this morning (8/3) on Northumberland Avenue, near to the junction with Callington Road.
A black Vauxhall Corsa was involved in a collision with a speed camera and two pedestrians, a man in his thirties and a girl under the age of five.
The man sustained broken ribs and an injury to his arm while the girl suffered injuries to her face.
They were taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital where they remain.
A 33-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of driving without due care and attention, driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specific controlled drug above the specified limit, being concerned in the supply of a controlled class A drug and being in possession of a controlled class A drug, in connection with this incident.
Investigating officer, PC Tom Dickinson, based at Three Mile Cross said:
“I am appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to please get in touch.
“I would also like to hear from anybody who was in the area and may have dash-cam footage from the collision to please contact us by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43220102091.”
