There's a warning about fake text messages in the Bracknell area asking people to get tested for Covid-19 by entering their details into an unofficial website.

A spokesperson for Bracknell Forest Council:

"We are aware of a fake message circulating about applying for COVID-19 Omicron variant PCR tests.

"This scam encourages people to order a specific PCR test for Omicron using a non-official website."

They then go on to say:

"If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been asked to carry out a PCR test by an official body like NHS Test and Trace or your child’s school, you should apply for a test on GOV.UK or by calling 119.

"There is no separate website address or phone number for Omicron PCR testing.

"Please do not apply for tests by any other route, even if the email or request looks genuine.

"PCR tests are free, unless they are private tests linked to foreign travel."
