Police in Reading say a body has been found in the town centre.

They say they were called shortly before 9 to the council offices in Bridge Street where a man in his thirties was confirmed dead at the scene.

Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

In a statement they added:

"We were called to Bridge Street, Reading, this morning just before 8.50am following reports that the body of a man had been located near to the Reading Borough Council offices.

"Very sadly, a man aged in his 30s was confirmed deceased at the scene by South Central Ambulance Service.

"The man’s next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers. The thoughts of all of Thames Valley Police are with his family at this very difficult time.

"A cordon remains in place at the scene, although the man’s death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
