Basingstoke's platinum pud!
The Mayor chooses a pudding fit for a Queen
The borough’s platinum jubilee pudding has been chosen by the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr Paul Miller at a special afternoon tea at Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT).
Dozens of people joined the Mayor and Mayoress to enjoy a special afternoon tea prepared and served by the college's Hospitality and Catering students with the added bonus of sampling the competition entries.
The winning pudding, created by first-year catering student Chloe Reitano, beat off stiff competition from five other entries to be crowned the winner of the Platinum Jubilee pudding competition.
Chloe’s pudding, a delicate and very tasty Mille-Feuille of cream and seasonal fruits, will be served at the Mayor’s Jubilee Civic Service which will take place at St Michael’s Church on Sunday 5 June at 3pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Mayor Cllr Paul Miller said:
“Congratulations to Chloe, the winner of the jubilee pudding competition, and a huge well done to all of the students who entered such delicious puddings into the competition. I was faced with the extremely difficult task of tasting all six puddings for which I elected to use a very small fork.
“My heartfelt thanks go out to the BCoT principal, staff and of course the catering students for the magnificent table layouts and food and for welcoming us to such a wonderful event.”
