Two Basingstoke men arrested on suspicion of trying to smuggle migrants

Two men from Basingstoke has have been arrested on suspicion of trying to smuggle migrants to the UK.

The men - aged 34 and 44 - were arrested by Belgian Police near Nieuwpoort a town on the northern coast of the country early on Sunday morning.

Twelve migrants believed to be Albanian nationals were also detained.

Later in the day a 46-year-old man from Aylesbury was arrested by the National Crime Agency on suspicion of assisting unlawful immigration.
