More than 80 firefighters from across Hampshire attended a large fire at a 3-story apartment complex on Oakridge Road in Basingstoke over the weekend.

Crews from St Marys, Beaulieu, Wickham, Yateley, Alton, Eastleigh, Whitchurch, Winchester, Rushmoor, Fleet, Sutton Scotney, Tadley and Basingstoke were sent on Saturday afternoon.

The fire in the apartment complex, consisting of 9 blocks, was ablaze on the 2nd floor and roof of the building. Firefighters worked to stop fire spread to surrounding flats.

Area Manager with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service Jason Avery said:

"Crews have worked brilliantly to manage the spread of the fire, and I’d like to give my thanks to our fantastic partners including SCAS, Police, Local Partners and Berkshire FRS who have worked equally hard to support us."

Damage to the flats

Relief crews including 6 pumps and 2 aerial ladder platforms from Hampshire stations attended the scene to take over, and stayed damping down overnight.

No one was hurt.
