Man suffers fractured eye socket in Basingstoke assault
Police appeal for witnesses
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Basingstoke on Wednesday night (16 August).
Officers were called at 6.57pm to a report of an incident in the Castons Yard car park, outside the Maidenhead Inn pub on Winchester Street.
A man in his 30s was taken to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital to receive treatment for a fractured eye socket.
A 19-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
He has been released on conditional bail until 17 November.
Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
They believe a white car, possibly an Audi, was driving past at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the altercation.
Reports suggest other people were in the area at the time that may have also witnessed the incident.
