Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted burglary at a property in a village south of Basingstoke.

It happened at around 11 on Monday night when two men in a silver Honda CR-V were seen trying to break-in to a property on the Alresford Road at Preston Candover.

They were disturbed and drove away.

Police say it comes just 5 days after a similar incident at Kingsclere in the north-west of the county.

Again, the suspects were disturbed before fleeing the scene and nothing was reported stolen.

They say at this time, there is nothing to suggest both incidents are linked.

Police say if you saw any suspicious behaviour in the Preston Candover area at around 11pm on Monday 30 August, get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting 44210347153. Alternatively, you can contact independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
