Police investigate assault outside Reading nightclub
Two people in their twenties attacked in Friar Street
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and a woman were attacked outside a nightclub in Reading town centre.
It happened at around 2.25am on Sunday (15/8) outside of Pop World in Friar street.
The victims, a man and a woman in their twenties, were punched by two men.
The woman sustained a cut lip and the man sustained a broken jaw. Both were treated in hospital but have since been discharged.
Arrests
A 27-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm and racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress.
A 27-year-old man from Newbury was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a controlled drug of class A – cocaine.
Both men have been released on bail.
Detective Constable Maggie Bruce, based at Reading police station said:
