Man arrested on suspicion of drug dealing in Basingstoke

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug and knife offences after Police carried out a proactive patrol in Basingstoke.

Officers from the Basingstoke Priority Crime Team were patrolling the Oakridge area at around 11pm on Tuesday 20 August.

They spotted suspicious and drug-related activity and searched a man in a field near Normanton Road.

Officers found 16 wraps of suspected Class A drugs, drug paraphernalia, cash and three knives. All of the items were seized.

A 45-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug and possessing a knife blade / pointed article in a public place.

He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
