Police in Basingstoke release CCTV in search for armed robber

They say they have linked two incidents

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following two armed robberies in Basingstoke in recent days.

Incident 1

The first incident took place between 9.30pm and 9.37pm on Saturday 20 November.

A man wearing a balaclava entered the One Stop store on Sark Way in Popley and threatened a female cashier with a knife.

The man started shouting at the woman and told her to give him money from the till.

He also screamed at a member of the public and told them not to phone the police.

The man then stole £101 in cash and made off on foot.

Incident 2

The second incident took place at around 9.40pm on Tuesday 23 November.

A man, who was wearing a black balaclava and carrying a JD Sports bag, entered the One Stop store on Guinea Court in Chineham and threatened a staff member with a knife.

The suspect demanded money from the till and made off with £257 in cash and 6 x 50g packets of tobacco.

CCTV

Officers believe the incidents are linked and are now in a position to release CCTV images from both robberies.

He is described as being between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 7ins tall and was wearing a green jacket and a black balaclava.
