Police are appealing for witnesses following an unexplained death in Reading.

Officers were called to the river by the A33 in Reading on Monday (2/8) following a report that the body of a man was in the water.

The man’s body was recovered and he has since been identified as Steven Windebank.

His next of kin have been informed.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Laura Corscadden, based at Reading police station, said:

“My thoughts remain with the family and friends of Steven at this difficult time.

“Steven’s death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious, however we are trying to establish the circumstances around how he died.

“The CCTV image we are releasing shows what Steven was last wearing. Therefore I am appealing for anyone who may have seen or spoke to him recently to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information can contact police by making a report online or by calling 101. When making a report, please quote reference 43210344290.”
