Appeal after elderly woman assaulted in Reading
The victim, aged in her nineties, fell to the floor after being hit across the face
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault on an elderly woman in Reading.
It happened between 3.30pm and 4pm on Tuesday (5 August) on Friar Street.
The victim, aged in her nineties, was sat on the benches around the back of M&S when an unknown woman approached her, hitting her across the face, causing her to fall off the bench.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining an injury to her left eye socket and has since been discharged.
Investigating Officer, PC Ben Holdstock, said: “We are appealing for witnesses following this incident of assault on a woman in her nineties.
“An investigation has been launched, and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or the moments leading up to it.
“I am also appealing to those who were in the area at that time and may have dash-cams or CCTV to please check for footage.
