Town centre's first ever car boot sale aims to boost business
Town's BID team hope the event will bring people into the High Street on Bank Holiday Monday
Last updated 28th May 2021
The latest idea to generate business in Andover town centre is taking place on Bank Holiday Monday.
For the first time a car boot sale will take place in Andover High Street along with live music from local performers and events for children.
Shelley Coburn, BID Events Coordinator told us:
"The main reason we want to run a car boot sale in the High Street is to increase footfall to get people in.
"Also, all the money raised from the stallholders, is going to a local charity Andover Trees United, they're trying to raise money to build a cabin which is going to be used for schoolchildren to go along and learn about what they're doing".
There are more details about the charity here https://www.andovertrees.org.uk/the-cabin
The event is free for buyers from 11am – 3pm on Monday 31st May.
Free parking is available in all of the town centre car parks.
The car boot sale is one of several innovative ideas to attract people into the town centre.
Rebecca Speculo is creative director of the Andover shared shop in the Chantry Centre:
"There's six strong businesses in their at the moment, artisan led or locally sourced products, so it gives people something different to come and experience and you get really good customer service because these people are either making their products or there's passion and purpose in what they are doing and you feel that when you are buying or engaging with them when you come in"
