Andover charity wins National cash award
Veterans in Action has received £70k from the National Lottery
Local Andover charity Veterans in Action have been awarded £70,000 after topping a national funding poll.
VIA say they were overwhelmed by the support and votes received and proud to win the vote, and receive £70,000.
The Peoples Project 2023 saw 80 community projects from across the UK, with Veterans in Actions ALIVE (Achieve - Learn - Inspire - Value - Experience) project being shortlisted with the chance of winning the £70,000 through public vote.
Billy MacLeod MBE from the Veterans in Action Charity said:
"I would like to thank everybody who has voted for us, it really means alot to us, your support is what keeps us here and able to provide ongoing support to our veterans and helps us, to help them with changing their lives by providing peer support, physical, mental and social wellbeing as well as a safe place to grow and harness skills. Thank you to every single person that gave us their vote, thank you very much."
Veterans In Action have steadily grown since it’s conception in 2008 and after receiving charity status in January 2009 and throughout that time to the present date the charity has developed many projects that make up the ALIVE Programme.
Veterans In Action will continue to develop their ALIVE Centre and the projects within situated on the Hants/Wilts border to provide a ‘safe environment’ for those taking part in ALIVE.
