Motorist killed in A34 collision in west Berkshire

Police are appealing for witnesses after three vehicle collision near Beedon

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision which took place on the A34 near to Beedon in West Berkshire.

At just before 4pm on Tuesday (24/8) there was a collision involving a white Ford Transit, a blue Audi A4 and a red Mazda CX5 on the southbound carriageway.

Tragically, the driver of the Audi, a man aged in his fifties and from Dorset, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being closely supported by trained officers.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Tony Jenkins, of Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Three Mile Cross Roads Policing Department, said:

“Firstly, I would like to say that our thoughts are with the family and close friends of the man who sadly died at this difficult time. His next of kin are being closely supported by family liaison officers.

“I would now like to appeal for witnesses to this incident, or anyone who has any information in relation to it, to please make contact with the force.

“I’d also ask that any motorists that were on the A34 at this time and have a dash cam to please review it. There is a chance that it could have recorded something significant in relation to this investigation, so please check and make any reports to us if you feel like you can assist.

A 48-year-old man from north Hampshire was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has been released under investigation.
