A mental health charity has raised alarm bells saying youngsters are struggling to cope throughout the East of England.

This is according to Mind - who say they've seen a significant increase in the amount of teens in the region contacting their service.

They've put this rise in demand down to a range of factors including: the pandemic and the disruption this has had on young lives, the cost of living and the climate crisis.

Local representative from the charity, Gemma Byrne said:

"What we're seeing across the board is an increase in demand for mental health support.

"Young people are particularly affected by mental health.

"If you look at 17 - 19 year olds, in 2019, 1 in 10 experienced a mental health problem, in 2023 this is 1 in 4.

"This is a huge increase."
