Yellow weather warning issued across Bucks, Beds & Herts
It comes as Storm Arwen is set to bring strong winds, rain and snow
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning this weekend across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.
It comes as the nation braces itself for Storm Arwen which will see strong winds, rain and snow hit the country.
Speaking to Greatest Hits, a meteorologist at the Met Office, Marco Petagna, said: "For Beds, Bucks and Herts there is more of an issue on Friday night and Saturday morning.
We could well see gale force winds here with gusts of 55 mph locally to 65 mph overnight on Friday night into Saturday morning.
Coupled with a mix of some rain, sleet and potentially a bit of snow as that system pushes its way down from the north.
Most of the snow across the South of England should be across the high ground but locally where we get some heavier bursts it could just push down to some lower levels at times as well."
A rare red weather warning has been issued for some parts of Scotland and northern England.
It means there is a significant risk to life and dangerous weather is expected.
The Met Office advise that in the event of a red weather warning, 'immediate action should be taken to keep yourself and others safe from the severe weather wherever a red warning is put in place.'
Travel and energy supply disruption is expected in some areas, as well as the possibility of damage to property and infrastructure.
Gusts in excess of 80mph are expected to hit the eastern shores of Scotland and northern England from 3pm on Friday.
