Woman dies in three car Hitchin collision

A 24 year old man from London, who drove a BMW involved has been arrested

Police are appealing for information, witnesses and dash cam footage following a fatal collision near Hitchin yesterday evening (Sunday 12 November).

The incident happened at around 6.45pm on the A602 and involved three vehicles – a black BMW 316I, a grey Toyota Corolla and a silver Hyundai IX35.

Sadly, the driver of the Toyota – a woman in her fifties, died at the scene.

The driver of the BMW, a 24 year old man from London, was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and failing to provide a sample.

Detective Constable Felicity Moody, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the lady’s loved ones at this very difficult time.

“We are working to establish how the collision occurred and we want to hear from anyone who can help.

“If you saw what happened, or the events leading up to the collision, please get in touch.

“If you were driving in the area and have a dash cam, please check your footage and make contact if you have video that could help".
