Woman in critical condition after attempted murder in High Wycombe

Thames Valley Police have launched an investigation after an attempted murder in High Wycombe.

The victim, a woman in her forties, has been left in hospital in a critical condition following reports of an assault in Melbourne Road.

Police were called in the early hours of yesterday morning (February 18), at 1:20am.

The force have arrested a 38-year-old man from High Wycombe on suspicion of attempted murder; he remains in custody.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses and information, and say locals may see an increased police presence in the area, as their investigation is in the early stage.

Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Tracey Smyth said: “This was a serious incident that we are investigating thoroughly, with a suspect currently in police custody.

“We are in the very early stages of our investigation and are still trying to establish the full circumstances. It’s really important that if you have any information at all that could help our investigation that you get in touch as soon as possible.
