Woman charged with murder of two year old in Hemel Hampstead

A 29-year-old woman from Juniper Square in Hemel Hempstead has been charged with murder following the death of a two-year-old child.
Shilyrand Charigwati appeared at Hatfield Remand Court today (Tuesday 16 April) and was remanded in custody pending a hearing at St Albans Crown Court on Thursday (18 April).
Hertfordshire Police responded to a medical emergency at an address in Juniper Square at 4:40 pm on Sunday (14 April), alongside the ambulance service.
The Armed Policing Unit also attended the scene to provide specialist first aid equipment.
The child was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment but succumbed to their injuries shortly thereafter.
Residents in Juniper Square have been informed to anticipate a continued police presence in the area.
Authorities have expressed their understanding of the distress this news may cause to the local community and have assured that support is available for anyone affected.
The Dacorum Community Safety Partnership has been notified and is assisting with the investigation.
In a statement, a police spokesperson emphasized the importance of refraining from speculation, stating, "An extensive investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding what happened. With this in mind, it's absolutely vital that people please refrain from speculating about what happened, to allow the investigation and any subsequent court proceedings to take place. Any commentary could have a serious detrimental impact."
