Chesham man charged after sexual assault in Hertfordshire

Police are appealing for witnesses

Police are investigating after reports of a rape in Hemel Hempstead.

The incident is alleged to have happened sometime between 9.55pm and 11pm in a vehicle on Saturday 28 August.

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said:

“A man has been arrested and charged as part of the investigation and our enquiries are continuing at this time.

“As part of this, we are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have information about what happened to please come forward.

“Were you in the Waterhouse Street area, near Moor End Road, between the times stated? Did you see a man in a white VW Polo talking to a teenage girl, or driving away from the area before returning around an hour later?

“Any information at all could assist our ongoing enquiries.”

Mohammed Atif Khan, aged 37, from Upper Meadow in Chesham, has been charged with five offences including the rape of a woman aged over 16 , the assault of a female aged 13 and over by penetration and Kidnap/false imprisonment with the intent to commit a sexual offence.

He appeared at court on Friday 3 September, where he was remanded into custody until his next hearing, at Luton Crown Court on Friday 1 October.
