Welwyn Garden City man stabbed to death ‘dragged across the gravel’, court heard
21-year-old Tuche Coskun is on trial at St Albans Crown Court, charged with the murder of 42-year-old Gavin Hubbard
A woman who is said to have inflicted 40 knife wounds to a man, killing him, admitted to police to stabbing him, a court heard.
Police were called to an address on Linkfield on May 19 following reports of a disturbance.
A 42-year-old man, Gavin Hubbard, was pronounced dead at the scene despite best efforts from emergency services to save him.
Tuche Coskun, who is 21, of Central Avenue in Enfield, is on trial at St Albans Crown Court, charged with his murder.
On the third day of the trial, the jury heard from several witnesses, including the person who made the call to emergency services.
In their statement, they described a warm and dark evening, where they could only make out the figures of a group of individuals.
They stated having heard a woman say "she stabbed him. She stabbed twice in the chest", referring to the defendant, before describing what sounded like "someone being dragged on the gravel."
"I heard what I can only describe as carnage", they added.
Several police officers, who attended the scene of the incident, were then called to the witness stand to give evidence.
One of them, of the first unit called to the scene, described a woman lying on top of another, understood as being Coskun, to restrain her, saying "she stabbed him".
When another unit arrived to assist officers at the scene, Coskun was arrested, and said to have been compliant.
Another officer said "the defendant was facing down, hands facing up behind her back.
"My colleague had red-dotted her, I placed handcuffs on her.
"I turned her around, she looked at me dead in the face and said ‘I stabbed him’."
The trial continues.
