Girl, 18, seriously hurt after being hit whilst crossing road in Watford

Detectives say a vehicle they believe was involved failed to stop

A teenage girl is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit whilst crossing the road in Watford.

Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to Gammons Lane, at its junction with Ashby Road, at around 7pm on Monday.

Detectives say a vehicle involved - which they to be believe a white transit van with ladders on its roof - failed to stop at the scene.

The 18-year-old girl was transported to hospital by ambulance, where she continues to be treated.

Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or people with information that could help with investigations, to get in touch.
