Watford FC goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann has been appointed ambassador for West Herts Hospitals Charity.

The Austrian goalie will play a key role in supporting the charity - the official charity for West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - in their fundraising efforts.

The charity works to improve patient care while ensuring the wellbeing of staff.

Daniel said: “I’m so thankful for the support I have received from Watford fans and local community since I joined the club – which is why I jumped at the chance to play a role in helping our friends at West Herts Hospital Charity.

“As an ambassador, I will help raise awareness of what the charity does and the wonderful difference it makes to thousands of local people, as well as support its fundraising efforts.”

The charity has been funding initiatives to improve the patient experience, treatment and facilities across hospitals in West Hertfordshire, which recently enabled them to purchase a state of the art interventional radiology (IR) scanner for Watford General Hospital.

Alison Rosen, CEO at West Herts Hospitals Charity, said: "We are hugely grateful to Daniel for becoming our first ambassador and for his support for West Herts Hospitals.

“We know Daniel is a very popular player and he will no doubt help rally fans and the wider community to raise more funds, to help more people, in more ways in the future.

“And to get him on a free signing is even better!”

Daniel’s first engagement as ambassador will be at the Step Up for Health event at Vicarage Road Stadium on Saturday 1st June 2024, a challenge which members of the public are invited to take part in.
