A man has been jailed for 13 years after another man was shot in the hand in Waltham Cross.

Georgo Asllani, 59, of Peregrine Road, Waltham Abbey, appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Wednesday (28 February) where he was sentenced having previously been found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Police were called at just after 10.30am on 14 June 2022 to Trinity Lane where it was reported one man had attended the address, fired twice at the victim before he was wrestled to the ground.

Officers, including armed response officers, attended the scene immediately and Asllani was swiftly arrested and charged.

He denied the charges, however at court a jury found him guilty.

Detective Sergeant Michael Doe, of the Broxbourne Local Crime Unit, said: “This was a shocking incident between people known to each other involving a firearm and a family dispute. It could easily have resulted in someone being killed.

“Carrying weapons is simply not acceptable and the seriousness of the offence has seen Asllani sentenced to a significant time in prison as he faces the consequences of his actions.”
