A vehicle has overturned on the M40 in Buckinghamshire this afternoon (7 July).

The southbound carriageway is closed and traffic is reportedly queueing for three miles from Junction 4 (High Wycombe Handy Cross Roundabout) to Junction 3 A40 Knaves Beech (Loudwater).

There is a diversion via the A404 and A30 to re-join the M40 at Junction 3.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said the collision involved one car and a man was left in the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Two appliances and crews from High Wycombe and an officer attended the scene.

No-one was trapped.

Update: It is being reported that, as of around 4pm, all lanes have reopened.

But, travel time is still around 1 hour 15 minutes.
