The Health on The Move vaccination van is back in Bucks. Its aim is to help everyone get their COVID-19 vaccine, whether it’s a first, second or booster dose.
With four stops planned in Chesham, Wycombe, and Gerrards Cross next week, the convenience of getting a jab without an appointment will once again bring lots of people to doors.
The knock-on effects of an increase in patients to our A&E departments and hospital wards is well documented. Local GP and Buckinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group Chair, Raj Bajwa wants us all to help healthcare services run as smoothly as possible, saying:
“After a fantastic effort from all our health teams in the run up to Christmas, and over 419,000 vaccines given across our healthcare system during December, it remains a priority to get all those people yet to be boosted or vaccinated against this awful virus.
“If you have been waiting to get your booster until after the holiday period, then please don’t delay any longer. - The vaccination van is the perfect opportunity if you’re in the area when it’s open
“Anyone who wants to get their first or second dose will also be welcomed at the van and if you’re nervous about needles, or have any questions about its safety, the vaccinators will be happy to discuss this with you.”
Steve Goldensmith, the Head of Long Term Conditions and Ill Health Prevention at Bucks CCG, said: "Whether it's your first vaccine, whether it's your second vaccine, whether it's your booster instead, so it's that evergreen offer to people for whatever reason haven't accessed their vaccines, can do so on the bus, and we think it's really good because it takes it closer to the communities. It makes it easier for people to access, and it makes it more sort of on your doorstep and breaks down a lot of barriers that some people have been facing".
The vaccination van is able to vaccinate anyone age 16+ and the vaccine onboard all four days will be Pfizer.
