Two men sentenced in connection with death of Beau Robinson in Burnham
It happened in June last year during a fight on Wyndham Crescent
Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, two men have today (30/3) been sentenced after they were convicted in connection with the death of Beau Robinson in Burnham last summer.
Mr Robinson, who was 35-years-old, collapsed following an altercation in Wyndham Crescent, on 20 June last year.
Officers were called to reports of a fight between a group of men at around 1.10pm. Shortly after the altercation, Mr Robinson collapsed.
Officers and paramedics attending the scene performed CPR on Mr Robinson, but sadly, he was later pronounced dead.
Two men, Daniel Hicks, aged 31, of Lower Cippenham Lane, Slough, and Martin Fleming, aged 20, of Bideford Spur, Slough, were arrested and originally charged with Mr Robinson’s murder.
Subsequent investigations ascertained that Mr Robinson had been involved in an altercation with Hicks and Fleming, and as a result of injuries he received, he tragically died.
On 8 February at Reading Crown Court, Hicks pleaded guilty to the alternative offence of manslaughter and possession of a bladed article, which was accepted by the prosecution, while Fleming pleaded guilty to violent disorder.
They were both acquitted of murder.
In today’s hearing at the same court, Hicks was sentenced to a total of nine years and four months’ imprisonment, while Fleming was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Sally Spencer of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “Today, Daniel Hicks and Martin Fleming have been held accountable and sentenced for their roles in the death of Beau Robinson, which occurred on Father’s Day last year.
“They both left it until the first day of the trial to offer these pleas and take responsibility for their actions, and Beau’s family have endured many months of anxiety waiting for justice to take place.
“My thoughts once again go out to Beau’s family and friends.
“This incident has had a devastating impact on them and shocked the local community.
“As ever, we are committed to bring such offenders to justice and will tirelessly and robustly pursue those who seek to cause such harm in our society.”
