Two people have died in a single vehicle car crash on the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire border.

It happened on Saturday afternoon when a Porshe hit a tree on Lower Road in Croydon, both people inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene.

Bedfordshire Police have released a statement asking for witnesses to come forward, saying they were first called to the scene just before 4:45pm.

Sergeant Simon Cooper, from the Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit, said: ā€œOur thoughts are with the family and friends of those who died and everyone else affected by such a tragic incident.

ā€œThis is a rural, secluded location and we would really like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything in this area which can help us shed a light on what has happened.

ā€œWe would be especially keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage which might be able to help our investigation.ā€
