Two areas in Hertfordshire make 'Britain's happiest place to live' list
Hitchin is ranked the happiest place to live in the East of England
The happiest places to live in Britain in 2021 have been revealed, and two of those areas are in Hertfordshire.
The "happy at home" index, now in its 10th year, asked more than 21,000 people across Britain how they feel about where they live.
Across the whole of Britain, Hitchin came twelfth in the rankings - which put it at the highest spot in the East of England.
Also in Hertfordshire, St Albans came 19th on the list for this year.
The index compiled by Rightmove measured aspects including friendliness and community spirit and whether people feel they can be themselves.
It also asked residents about nature and green spaces, opportunities locally to develop skills and amenities including schools, restaurants, shops and sports facilities.
