Tring mum's first day at school idea goes viral
Kat wanted her son to feel she was with him as he headed off to Reception.
A Tring mum's idea to help her little boy feel close to her in his first week of school has gone viral.
Kat stitched kisses into her son's school sweatshirt sleeve and told him if he kissed it whilst at school, she would feel it.
She told us:
"I think that gave him a lot of comfort, he really took to it.
"He basically wouldn't stop kissing it all morning and he was like 'can you feel that? Can you feel that?'
"It was really lovely just to see him smiling, knowing he could contact me if he needed to."
Kat said she was just as nervous as her son about the start of school, after spending so much time together during lockdown.
She added:
"We haven't been apart for six months.
"This was just something that I thought, if he had something during the day that if he was missing me, or feeling a little bit sad, he had that to think 'Oh mummy knows that I'm thinking about her.'"
Kat shared a post on Facebook and it went viral and she told us it's helped other parents who've also felt similar to her.
The Instagram page was set up by her at the start of lockdown, as a way to share ideas to keep kids entertained.
We asked the mum-of-two what it meant to get such positive feedback from parents in Tring.
She said:
"When we all went into lockdown and were stuck at home with children, it was very, very difficult.
"I started doing a few play trays and things for the kids and sharing them online.
"People really responded to it, so I carried on to help other parents.
"Just to know that other mums, parents, are going through the same thing, it has been lovely to have that online connection."
