A Hertfordshire shop has joined hundreds of others on the new website.

'Our Bookshop' in Tring is the first bookshop in Hertfordshire to join a new online site.

Set up in America to rival Amazon and to support local, often independent, stores Bookshop.org has now launched in the UK.

Ben Moorhouse explains that there was a real impact on local stores when Amazon began to grow:

"We have so many people who remember the years past when shpos were going bust. In fact, Tring lost a bookshop and that was a direct result of Amazon.

"We've had so many customers since we opened last September saying they didnt realise the mistake they were making and how they won't make that mistake again."

Ben explained that although buying from the store directly is best, this website is the next best thing.

People can shop for books on the site, and select a bookshop of their choice to receive 30% of the profit.

Or, customers can choose not to select a book and the profits will be added to a pool shared out among all the bookshops.
