58-year-old Melanie Tucker died following a collision involving a pick-up truck on the High Road in Wormley on Thursday, 27 February
Tributes have been paid to a woman who died following a collision on the High Road in Wormley.
Police were called shortly after 6.30pm on Thursday, 27 February, to a collision involving a white Mitsubishi pick-up truck and a female pedestrian. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
She has now been named as 58-year-old Melanie Tucker. Her daughters, Emma and Nicole, have paid tribute to her, saying: "With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of our dear mother’s passing. Taken from us too soon in a tragic collision, her absence has left an unimaginable void in our lives.
“She was a woman of incredible strength, kindness, and unwavering passion for helping others. A mother who loved fiercely, a grandmother who cherished every moment, and a guiding light to all who knew her. Her love, wisdom, and warmth will remain with us always.
“We, along with her precious grandchildren, are devastated and overwhelmed by this loss. As we navigate this pain, we hold on to the beautiful memories she gifted us—the laughter, the love, and the lessons she imparted.
“Mum, you will always be in our hearts. Your legacy of love and compassion will live on through us. We love you, we miss you, and we will honour you always.
“We would also like to thank all emergency services involved that tried everything they could for our mum too. Thank you x.”
A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Dale Morris from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with Melanie’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“Officers are continuing work to establish the circumstances of what happened and urge anyone who was in the area at the time to please make contact with us via email at Dale.Morris@herts.police.uk with any information.”
