A man and two women have been sentenced to prison for perverting the course of justice as part of a drugs supply investigation in Bletchley.

At Aylesbury Crown Court today (15 November), Shane Binns, 35, of Derwent Drive, Bletchley, Laura Trainer, 31, of Hellards Road, Stevenage, and Amanda Raeside, 52, of Stephens Close, Luton, were each sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. This follows their conviction for perverting the course of justice after a two-week trial held in August this year.

The case dates back to September 2020, when Binns was remanded in custody as part of an investigation into a conspiracy to supply class A drugs. During the investigation, officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) suspected that Binns had tampered with a witness, prompting a further inquiry.

Evidence revealed that Binns had contacted Trainer and Raeside to assist in persuading a witness to alter their statement. They also sought to delete phone records in an effort to reduce Binns' involvement in the drug conspiracy. The trio were subsequently charged by postal requisition on 19 August 2022.

Detective Constable Justin Marsden, of SEROCU, commented on the sentencing: "Binns, Trainer and Raeside thought they could interfere with the investigation by minimising the evidence against Binns. I hope this case shows that no-one is above the law and the police will ensure they do everything possible to tackle drug dealers. If you have any information about the sale of drugs in your area, then please contact your local force, which can be done anonymously, to allow us to continue to keep our communities safe."
