Thousands have signed another petition against HS2, calling for the project to be scrapped.

Chris Packham, who lives near the route in Bucks, is calling for reassessment - saying the pandemic's changed how we work and the train line is a waste of money.

So far, over 37,000 have signed (as of 6am) and the aim is to get to 100k for a Commons debate.

In an email to those backing the Stand for the Trees campaign, started by the presenter, Chris Packham wrote:

"In 2021 we need brave leadership, prepared to make urgent, real-time decisions, to halt and reverse the damage we are doing to our natural world, right now. Not more pledges and targets beyond the term of our immediate government.

"Time is running out. We need action now."

Mr. Packham argues that we don't need the government or our parliamentary representatives 'wedded to decisions of the past'.

He added that HS2 is the best example of worst practice when it comes to poorly informed decisions.

Chris said:

"That's why at the start of this new year, we've launched a new petition asking for a new vote in Parliament on the future of HS2."
