Wycombe Wanderers prepare to face Peterborough Utd in Wembley final
The Bristol street Motors Trophy final will see Wycombe Wanderers fight for a win this afternoon
Fans are getting ready to cheer Wycombe Wanderers in a face-off against Peterborough United for the Bristol street Motors Trophy final.
In the semi-final, Wycombe showcased their prowess, overcoming a resilient Bradford side under the helm of their new manager, Graham Alexander.
Wycombe's journey so far has been marked by victories over Liverpool under-21s, Derby, and Doncaster in the knockout stages.
This final could see the Chairboys bring the trophy home.
Greatest Hits Radio spoke to Phil, who has been a Wycombe fan for 32 years now and who will be heading to the final with his family.
He said: "As soon as we got to the quarter final stage, Wycombe were having a bit of a bad run in the league, we were doing ok in this competition, and we just kept winning and we got to the semi-final."
"It is a big day out, it's a trip to the national stadium and it's going to be a good crowd there."
"It's one of those competitions that just ticks along in the background and you don't really pay much attention to it until you get to the quarter-final stage."
"Getting to Wembley is a big deal for a club like Wycombe."
With large crowds expected to travel out of South Buckinghamshire for the game this afternoon, Chiltern Railways has made more trains available to cater for fans heading to Wembley Stadium.
Matt Turner, from Chiltern Railways, said: "We are expecting a lot of supporters to travel with us for the event so we've amended our timetable to help cater for these additional passengers."
"One really important thing to note is that there will be no trains to Wembley Stadium before 11 o'clock in the morning, after that, and enhanced service with additional and longer trains will run between High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross and Wembley Stadium for the rest of the day."
Customers are being advised to check journeys before travelling and purchase train tickets ahead of travel to avoid large crowds at ticket offices and machines in stations.
