Thame Residents are being given the chance, by other locals, to shape the way homes are built in the area.

The Thame Community Land Trust was formed after a meeting about the Local Plan resulted in worries over affordability for locals.

Bob Austin is Chair of the Thame CLT:

"We looked at the Local Plan and saw quite clearly there was a missing middle, there were residents of Thame that simply couldn't afford to stay there.

"The way affordable housing is built at the moment mean it is done is collaboration between the developer and the housing association.

"Housing associations are fine but they are working to a formula. That formula doesn't always meet the needs of the people."

The group have now brought a piece of land, which they say was quite hard, and plan to build 31 new homes on it.

The public exhibition will be held in the Upper Chamber at Thame Town Hall on today between 2pm to 7pm (Friday 4th) and Saturday 5th September between 10am to 2pm.

The group are focused on creating affordable housing, to help locals who want to stay in the area.

Locals are being invited to attend the exhibition, which will have social distancing measures in place, to find out more and ask questions.
