A teenager has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 17-year-old Cameron Bailey in High Wycombe, as well as other violent offences, following a complex investigation by Thames Valley Police.

Jayden Gubetini, 18, from Slough, was handed a minimum term of 29 years at Reading Crown Court today. His sentence comes after he was found guilty last October of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, and grievous bodily harm with intent.

Cameron Bailey, from West Sussex, travelled with a friend to High Wycombe in May 2023. The pair were robbed twice by Gubetini and accomplices over two consecutive days. The second robbery, on 7 May 2023, turned fatal when Cameron was fatally stabbed, and his friend sustained severe injuries.

Despite paramedics’ efforts, Cameron was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death was a stab wound to the back. Cameron’s friend suffered a fractured skull, a head wound, and injuries to his hand requiring surgery.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Stuart May said: “Gubetini is a dangerous individual who, despite his age, has demonstrated his intent to repeatedly use serious violence. He will now face the consequences of his actions by serving a significant custodial sentence, reflecting the gravity of the offences committed.”

He added, “This case highlights the devastating consequences of knife crime. My thoughts remain with Cameron’s family and his friend during this difficult time.”

A violent spree across two days

On 6 May 2023, Gubetini travelled to High Wycombe, where he robbed Cameron and his friend of drugs. The incident went unreported at the time. The following day, he returned with accomplices—Aaran Pattinson, Philip Solomon, and Scott Cordice—and committed another robbery in King’s Court, High Wycombe, during which Cameron was killed.

Gubetini fled to the Netherlands after the attack but was extradited to the UK in July 2023. He also received a separate sentence for an assault at HMP Bullingdon, where he slashed an inmate with a blade.

Accomplices sentenced

Pattinson, Solomon, Cordice, and Marlon Cato were also sentenced for their roles in the events leading to Cameron’s death:

Aaran Pattinson, 33, from High Wycombe, was jailed for ten years and six months for manslaughter and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Philip Solomon, 38, was also jailed for ten years and six months for conspiracy to commit robbery.

Scott Cordice, 30, received eight years and six months for conspiracy to commit robbery.

Marlon Cato, 51, was jailed for five years and six months for drug offences and assisting an offender.

Police warnings on knife crime

Detective Inspector May emphasised the dangers of carrying knives: “Too often, we see the devastating impact a single moment can have on victims, their families, and communities. Thames Valley Police is committed to tackling knife crime through Operation Deter, which ensures swift action against offenders.”

He urged the public to report individuals carrying knives, saying, “Please call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
