Swingate House building collapses in Stevenage

Emergency services are at Swingate House after the building partially collapsed.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue are asking residents to avoid the Swingate area of Stevenage, after a building demolition "went wrong".

Firefighters were called to Swingate House at 10am today (Tuesday 22 March) after they received a call to say it had collapsed.

MP for Stevenage, Stephen McPartland, took to Twitter to say: "Need clear explanation how this could have happened & I will be asking Health & Safety Executive to investigate".

The fire service have asked residents to avoid the area where possible.
