"Suspicious device" recovered from Bedford
It was moved to a safe location and a controlled explosion was carried out
Bedfordshire Police say a "suspicious device" discovered in Bedford has been safely exploded.
They were called to The Embankment yesterday afternoon (November 26), at around 5:30pm, where the device was discovered.
A later update said that an EOD Unit also attended the scene, and the device was moved "to a safe location where a controlled explosion was successfully carried out."
Several roads at the junction with The Embankment were closed during the recovery of the device, which all reopened later in the evening.
High Street, Newham Road/Castle Road and Albany Road were all affected by a cordon put in place.
