Stanborough Park in Hertfordshire has seen significantly increased footfall since the start of the heatwave.

Last weekend, 9,000 people visited Splashlands and they're expecting that number to increase in the coming days.

The park also said all watersports sessions have been booked up for the next two weeks and there's been a 20% increase in the number of people taking up open water swimming sessions on the lake.

Adam Tonge, Operation Manager, said "It's been absolutely huge. This hot weather has driven people down in their thousands."

He added, "we're pretty well set up, we expect these things to happen. But we do get bigger strains on our supply chain. So we make sure we're really well stocked up on ice cream and water."

An amber weather warning has been put in place for much of the country between Sunday and Tuesday, including Bucks, Beds, and Herts. People are being urged to find safe ways to cool off.

Unfortunately, this year has already seen a number of teenage drownings in our rivers, lakes, and reservoirs. So, people are being urged to stick to swimming in lifeguarded beaches, leisure centres, and public pools.

Mr. Tonge said, "the dangers that we speak about is when there aren't these safety blankets in place, when there aren't lifeguards around. So, come to one of our nice, safe locations rather than chancing it."
