Seven people have been arrested after an altercation in Stokenchurch led to several people suffering stab wounds.

Thames Valley Police were called to the High Street just after 1am yesterday morning, after reports of a fight involving a large group of people.

Officers say "a number of people" were injured, suffering minor stab wounds, which are not thought to be serious.

Superintendent Euan Livingstone, of the Buckinghamshire Local Command Unit, said: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation and we are working to establish exactly what took place.

“I understand that people in the area might be concerned to hear this news today, but I’d like to reassure them that we’ve made a number of arrests in connection with this incident, and that we don’t believe there is any threat to the wider community."

Officers said an increased police presence would be in the area throughout the day as the investigation continues, with locals invited to speak with officers about any concerns.

Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with the force.
