Serving Herts police officer pleads not guilty to child sexual abuse charges

A trial is due to be held next summer

A serving Hertfordshire police officer has pleaded not guilty to charges including the sexual assault of a child.

James Ford was an intervention officer in East Herts before he was suspended.

He appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on Monday afternoon where he faced further charges relating to sexual child abuse.

Ford has been charged with a further three counts of rape of a child under 13 as part of an on-going investigation which is being led by Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s Public Protection Unit.

He is also charged with two counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, three counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, three counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and one count of committing an act to pervert the cause of justice.

The case has been adjourned until August 8, 2022, when a trial is due to be held.

He has been released on bail.
