A vigil is being held in south east London this evening - paying tribute to Sabina Nessa, who was found dead in a park in Greenwich on Saturday.

It's been arranged by the 28-year-old's friends and neighbours, who say they've been left heartbroken and scared by her suspected murder.

The primary school teacher, who was originally from Bedfordshire, had been heading for a pub in the square to meet a friend last Friday when she was fatally attacked on a walk which should have taken five minutes.

People will be gathering at 7pm in Pegler Square in Kidbrooke - and those who can't make it are being encouraged to light a candle on their doorsteps.

"We want to make sure people know who Sabina was," says Emma, one of the organisers of the event.

"She's a woman who has had her life taken from her. We want to celebrate her life, and we want to come together and be there, and show support for her family."

"Sabina never arrived at the pub and is thought to have been murdered as she walked through the park," the force said.

A post-mortem examination, carried out on Monday, was inconclusive.

Detective Inspector Joe Garrity said: "Sabina's journey should have taken just over five minutes but she never made it to her destination.

"We know the community are rightly shocked by this murder - as are we - and we are using every resource available to us to find the individual responsible."

He added the investigation was making good progress and said: "We believe there are still others out there who may have information that could help.

"If you think you saw Sabina or any suspicious behaviour in or around the park on Friday evening please speak to us."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0208 721 4266 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
